Death In Threes
A Study of Repeating 3s
Visitors as of 8/31/2026
Do Deaths occur in groups of three? Yes they do. But they also occur as singles, doubles, quadruples, quintuplets, etc...
If we say that celebrities die in threes, it depends on who is defining the word "celebrity". Like accountants, people like to "fudge" definitions to fit a particular mind-set. It also depends on which source(s) of information a given individual or group is using to gather the object (people) of their tally. And even though many people disclaim the idea that deaths occur in three, calling it a superstition, cognitive bias, or some other negative connotation, let us itemize some things regarding the idea:
- Apparently, the "Death In Threes" idea is most prominent in the US, UK, Mexico and Canada, according to one AI report that I attach as an image. Other countries apparently have different ideas about death which are more prominent in their respective cultures, but the AI mentions three orientations: Spirituality, Cyclicity, Reincarnation... which means an AI born in a culture emphasizing the "Death In Threes" idea are culturally biased because the creators of their code are.
- The cultures where the idea is prominent, have a Judeo-Christian heritage.
- Despite the prominence of other numbers in other cultures, those cultures have not established any numerosity to death's occurrence.
- It is the value "3" which is used in connection with death, and not some other value such as 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc... Though numbers other-than-three are favorite numbers and are displayed in iconic models such as 3 sevens on one-armed bandits in gambling houses, and use of a 21 gun salute sometimes occurring in the pattern of seven guns (rifles) shot three times, or the seven liberal arts in the classical and early medieval periods:

- If the idea is to be explained by ideas promoted by Psychology such as Superstition and Confirmation bias, it is of need to note that Psychology has an underlying and embedded orientation (bias) towards Dichotomies: https://www.threesology.org/
- If the idea is to be explained by ideas promoted by Mathematics such as having no Statistical reality, it is of need to not that Mathematics has an underlying and embedded orientation (bias) towards Dichotomies: https://www.threesology.org/
