In reposting the pages in this series, I have decided to interject a list of 3-to-1 ratios for those who are not accustomed to or don't want to read paragraphed descriptions of examples, in order to provide an easily viewed sampling. Please note that patterns-of-four or "quaternion" examples can often be viewed as 3 -to- 1 ratios by analyzing the content such as in the case of the so-called "Four" Gospels (Matthew-Mark-Luke and John), in that the first three are (in some analytical circles) referred to as the Synoptic Gospels and John is labeled the Idiosyncratic gospel because it displays differences. Interestingly, there is a focus on the 3 gospels which are similar and called (The Synoptic Problem), but no similar effort of discussing the "The Idiosyncratic Problem", which is John.

Let me note that in my studies of the "threes" phenomena, I sometimes see a pattern in which a later-born occurrence appears to exhibit a usage of more three patterns, just as we see occurring in several biological instances such as life is proposed to have developed a triplet code in DNA following a presumed earlier doublet-code which followed a singular-code... even if we have no examples to supports such a supposition. In addition, we see the use of a ATP (3-phosphate) cellular energy source which presumably developed after the ADP (2-phosophater) which itself came after the AMP (1-phosphate). No less, let us reference the 3-step developmental appearance of the three Germ layers from:
- 1 germ layer: "Monoploblastic" (the sponge is sometimes used as the extant representative) What are the Germ Layers?
- 2 germ layers: Diploblastic (jellyfish, comb jellies, corals, sea anemones)
- 3 germ layers: Triploblastic (worms [annelids], insect, spider, crustacean [arthropods], mollusca, echinoderms, chordates.)
In short, it is not unreasonable to suspect that a later-born construct of social orientation may well be exhibited with more of a "three" pattern(s) than that or those which came previously... not to mention that is some cases I can see redundancies used without merit. As such, if we look at the gospel of John and notice the presence of more "threes" being used in the Narrative compared to any one of the other three, it is of value to establish some chronology of occurrence... which details the gospel of John being "later-born" and thus suggests a later cognitive activity, no matter what other variables you may want to include to account for the occurrence... unless of course the john narrative came earlier but was only discovered later. Similarly, we see this having occurred in the case of the "later born" American civilization/society and its more frequent usage of "threes" when compared to its earlier counter-parts in Europe. A good example is the adopted usage of three names for a person instead on one or two which occurred more frequently in the past.
However, "later born" may or may not occur in terms of a direct... same generation or even family lineage. For example, one person in a family (such as myself) may be oriented to "threes" while the other members of the family are mostly oblivious to the recurrence. I was born 3rd at 3 minutes before 3:00 PM on the 15th of February. The point is, as a general rule, the development of "threes" appears at a later stage, with my later stage exploration of the threes phenomena beginning in childhood.
However, it should further be noted that the ratio can be expressed as a:
- "3-to-1",
- "3-in-1",
- "3-from-1",
- With alternative variations not excluded from consideration such as:
- 3- because of -1,
- 3- in spite of -1,
- 3- in place of -1...
- etc.,
- or the obverse arrangement of the numerical/word symbols.
It must be additionally noted that some researchers are not aware that they are in possession of a "3- to- 1" ratio, and instead refer to it as a four-pattern, or even perhaps some larger enumerated pattern (which may not necessarily use numbers).
